08/07/2006 - Glassport - Residential
Structure Fire
Washington Boulevard
Glassport Borough was the scene of an intense residential
structure fire on Monday, August 7th. Citizens Hose (Glassport #1) 161, Reliance
Hose (Glassport #2) 162, and Clairton EMS were on initial dispatch for smoke
in the area. Crews immediately put Tanker 184 and Engine 237 on standby as there
is work being done on the local water tower. Units were quickly informed it was
a residential structure fire and Tanker 184 and Engine 237 were requested to
the scene. Clairton 123 was also requested for RIT.
The house was fully involved
when crews arrived, and sat down a narrow, hard to reach driveway. Trucks were
unable to get close to the house, and hose had to be carried down the steep stone
and dirt driveway.
Crews from Liberty 183, Dravosburg 131, and Central 147
were also called to the scene to assist.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is
investigating the cause. No injuries were reported and all occupants were accounted
for.
