07/26/2004 - West Ridge - Camper Fire

:: Sara Coyne Campground

July 26 - Shortly before 1100 hrs, units responded to the Sara Coyne Campground at the Foot of Presque Isle for a reported camper fire. West Lake Engine 9 arrived on location first, followed right behind West Lake Engine 4 and West Ridge Engine 16. Crews found a working camper fire with exposures on side 2, 3 and 4. Crews stretched two 1 3/4" attack lines and a 2 1/5" attack line to put the fire out. A search was completed and it proved negative. Crews spent about 30 minutes doing overhaul and salvage. Crews remained on location for about 90 minutes. West Ridge Captain 470 had command upon his arrival, then passed command to West Lake Chief 480 when he arrived. Invesitgators believe that the fire was caused due to faulty wiring. Nobody was home at the time of the fire.
